Péndulo de Hilgers

Indications:

Corrects disocclusions from dental class II.

Description:

Hybrid, consists in an button from Nance on the palate for keeping anchorage, four wire-prolongations cemented on on primemolars and two resorts of TMA 0.32 for distal from 16 and 26.

Variant:

• Pend – X. Pendulum with expansion screw.
• Disjunction pendulum: has an incorporated screw, also wire-arms, solded on prime molars for expansion without overturn from lateral sectors against vestibular.

Precautions:

Always combine with elastics from class II for avoiding protrusion from incicives.

• Not recommended on dolicofacial patients because of possible opening of iexcl; facial axle.
• Overcorrect class I until getting an easy class III.
• Once the molars are distaled, put after 48 hours an transpalatine bar or a button from Nance.
• Attention to possible blockade on eruption of second molars.

Advantage:

Great distalment of molars with min. collaboration from patient.

Placing-model:

• Sold boxes on preselected bands. Bands get cemented on prime superior molars.
• Prepare occlusional surface from first and second primemolars for cementing arms on wire with "Excel".
• Keeping button from Nance on palatine , holding with fingers as long you cement the anterior portion from iexcl apparatus.
• Activate ressorts from TMA parallel to the middle raphe. Wait 30 minutes before lodgement of TMA ressorts on boxes.
• Guide with fingers the TMA ressorts against towards and lodge them with an Weingart pliers on the boxes.
• Put an elastic ligature for avoiding that the ressort is comming out when patient is brushing teeth.

Reactivations:

• Revise the patient all three weeks.
• If it is necessary to activate ressorts, they have to get retired from the iexcl; boxes and keeping the center from iexcl; helix with pliers of three heads, activate until iexcl; Once activated insert them again on boxes.
